INFRA RED VERSION

When programming my Standby Saver, after pressing the mode button the red LED illuminates but Standby Saver is not receiving a signal from my remote control.

Check that the IR receiver jack plug is pushed fully into the socket. Next check that your remote control is functioning properly. Lastly check that the IR receiver is placed in a position where it can receive the signal.

The green LED illuminates when I switch my Standby Saver on.
If you have a an IR version of Standby Saver then follow the 8 point guide below. However if you have a USB version, then the green illumination is correct.

My Standby Saver has been working fine but now it turns on/off at random without my pressing a button on my remote control.
Try re-programming your Standby Saver as per the instructions which can be downloaded from our Product Information page. If this does not resolve the problem please submit a technical enquiry form from our Technical Support page.

My appliances do not switch off immediately.
There is a delay of approximately 10 seconds before Standby Saver switches off all power. This is to allow certain devices necessary time to enter their standby state. An audible 'click' will be heard from the Standby Saver when it switches off power.

If you have purchased an IR version and when first switched on the green LED is illuminated, follow the 8 point guide below.

1.       Unplug all appliances and IR sensor from the unit, plug the unit into a switched socket
2.       DO NOT switch the unit on yet
3.       Depress the mode button with your non metallic pointer, and, whilst keeping the mode button depressed, switch power ON to the unit keeping the mode button pressed in at all times
4.       The green LED will illuminate, however, after 5 to 10 seconds  the light should go out
5.       Once the light has gone out stop pressing the button
6.       Switch off the unit and wait 10 secs
7.       Switch the unit back on. WAIT another 10 seconds then depress the mode button, the RED LED should illuminate within 5 to 10 secs.
8.       Stop pressing the button and switch the unit off

USB VERSION

When I close down my PC/laptop Standby Saver does not turn off my printer, speakers etc.
The USB port that you have plugged your Standby Saver into may be remaining powered on, even after shut down. To test that Standby Saver is functioning properly, carry out the following: once you have shut down your PC/laptop manually remove the USB lead from your chosen port. If Standby Saver then turns off your peripherals Standby Saver IS functioning and you will need to try the following action to remedy the problem: a) use an alternative USB port  (in some cases you may find that some ports remain powered while others don't) b) try changing the USB power settings using your BIOS configuration tools c) make sure that all the peripherals are in the Standby Saver sockets that will switch off and not in one of the switched sockets that may be in the 'mains' position.

My Standby Saver switches off after 10-15 minutes whilst I am still using my PC.

This should only occur if Standby Saver is not receiving power from the chosen USB port. To ascertain whether this is the case, unplug Standby Saver from the mains but leave the USB lead plugged into your chosen port. The green LED should remain illuminated. If the LED does not remain illuminated try other USB ports until it does. When successful use this as your chosen port.

The Standby Saver does not work with my laptop.

Standby Saver will work with a laptop as well as with a desktop. Situations where laptops are used as purely portable devices would not benefit from the use of a Standby Saver. However situations where laptops are used as desktop replacements will definitely benefit from the use of Standby Saver. Another common use for Standby Saver is to work with a laptop and a docking station, where Standby Saver will switch off power to the docking station when not required.

My appliances do not switch off immediately.
There is a delay of approximately 10 seconds before Standby Saver switches off all power. This is to allow certain devices necessary time to enter their standby state. An audible 'click' will be heard from the Standby Saver when it switches off power.

N.B. If you ever switch the power off to your unit ALWAYS wait 10 secs after switching it back on before depressing the mode button.

My device is still not working.
